We are currently looking to hire someone trained in the field of Landscape Architecture with experience in Landscape Project Design, Drafting, and Management.

• We have a small office in Fairfax, California, and have opened a workspace in our new San Rafael space, sharing space with an established architectural firm. We currently have a wide variety of project types from custom residential to national and local parks.

• We are looking for a nimble, organized and creative person with training and/or experience in the field with good technical skills, good graphic sense, and a willingness to work with (or in) a small family-run office.

• Roth LaMotte Landscape Architecture is hiring for a Design assistant to focus on design drafting and production as well as to collaborate with us in our Landscape Architecture office. We are based in Fairfax, Ca. We are open to hybrid work, but will likely need to meet in person a few times a week following a training period. Our office is engaged in residential, public, and commercial work. We have many projects of different sizes, ensuring exposure to many sides of the business.

  We are looking for candidates that bring good graphics and production skills for design work including drawing set production for presentation for Design Review and Building Permit submittals for commercial, public and residential projects in the local SF Bay area.

• Working in our office, or as a hybrid employee, you will be expected to work on a full range of scales and extents of many different types of projects. We are looking for an organized, engaged, fun-loving creative to be an active team member in all facets of the projects. You will have the opportunity to interact and coordinate with consultants, suppliers, agencies, and clients.

• Responsibilities

  • Active team member participating in the development of:

    • Design: Plans, details, concepts, and illustrations

    • 3D Modeling: studies for spatial design as well as presentation to clients and agencies

    • Construction Drawings: layout and grading, construction detailing, planting, and irrigation

    • Assist with presentation materials including model imagery, photo overlay, hand rendering, photography, modeling, and descriptive writing.

• Skills and Experience:

  • Proficiency in the following would be helpful:

    • Vectorworks 2023 (primarily, but can train)

    • AutoCAD

    • 3D digital modeling, including terrain modeling

    • Adobe Creative Suite- Illustrator, In Design and Photoshop

    • Microsoft Office/Outlook/Sharepoint

    • Hand drawing skills

    • Understanding of landscape construction materials

    • Plant and soil knowledge

    • Irrigation knowledge
